Fun, active and informative workshops!

Western University, through the student organization Pipelines to Healthcare, conducts a series of Saturday morning sessions for Pomona middle school students to learn about careers in the health sciences.

These are fun, active and informative workshops for parents and 6th-grade students. Presentations and hands-on learning sessions are conducted by a variety of health care professionals and WesternU students.

Pipeline to Health Careers

Each session is designed to meet specific state educational guidelines

The Academy is designed to be modular, in order to provide age and interest appropriate activities. They include a plenary session with required attendance by both students and parents, followed by topic or discipline specific lectures, break-out activities, and other hands-on experience for the students. They are staffed by WesternU faculty and students, and each session is designed to meet specific state educational guidelines.

Simultaneous translation into Spanish is provided for family members requiring this service, and all recruitment materials are distributed through the school district bilingually.

Please note that all students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult. A signed Registration/Permission slip is required to attend.
